Honky Tonk + Rockabilly = Tonkabilly
Growing up in rural Texas and Oklahoma and based out of New Orleans,
Louisiana, Kim Carson's sound is a gumbo of original high energy roots rock
and renegade honky-tonk music.
Kim just finished her third CD intitled "Calle de Orleans"
(Orleans Street). The disc was recorded in Nashville at the Tracking Station
and Radioactive Ranch Studio with rocker "Dutch" producing and
Michael Webb mixing. Kim wrote or co-wrote six of the cuts on the disc which
features background vocals from Vicki Peterson (of the Continental Drifters
and the Bangles) and a duet with John Crooke of Jolene. The first disc
"dirty halo" came out in 1997. Her second CD "Tonkabilly"
was named "Best Country Album" by the readers of Offbeat Magazine.
Kim has been named "Best Country Artist" by the readers of Offbeat
magazine four years running.
Kim plays in the original music clubs from Texas to Florida and has appeared
on some of the outlaw country shows with David Allan Coe, Junior Brown, Dale
Watson, Loretta Lynn, Jessee Dayton, John Anderson, Deana Carter, the
Hollisters and more.
She's appeared at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival six times and
also performs regularly at many other festivals around the south.
